From a non-horse family Carlos started to ride at the age of 7. He was influenced by his older brother André on a horse bought by their grandfather. At the age of 8, Carlos stared eventing in Brazil and in 1993 he won the Brazilian Children Eventing Championship. He also won the South-American Junior Championship in 1994.

In 1997, he spent a year based with Christopher Bartle in Yorkshire and finish that year with a 13th place in CCI** at Nercane Castle riding CDC Baron. Back in Brazil for 1998, Carlos and CDC Baron went to finish 2nd in a CCI*** in Porto Alegre, Brazil which got them a place in the team for the World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy. At the age of 19, Carlos was the best Brazilian with a double clear and the Brazilian Team finished 9th. The following year another 2nd place in CCI*** with CDC Baron, this time in Belo Horizonte, got them a place in the team for the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.

2000 was a special year! Feline, a 9 years old, was 4th in CCI*** in Brazil and was then selected for the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. They finished 21st place, which was at the time and the best Brazilian result in the modern Olympic Games.

After winning a team gold in the South-American Games in 2001 and been part of team for the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, Carlos moved back to England to pursuit a life dream of becoming a professional event rider.

A great achievement in my career was to be part of the team in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. It was very much in my plans since the Olympics was awarded to Rio and to be able to have a competitive result has given me a huge desire to achieve more.

Now, with a top 10 placing ranging from BE100 to CCI***, Badminton, Burghley and team Bronze medal at the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2007, Team Silver at the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada in 2015 and string of good horses, there is no doubt that a major win is just a few steps away.

This picture was taken at my 1st ever event competition in 1989. I was 10 years old riding my 1st horse.
